She was predeceased by her husband, Howard L. Appleman; and four brothers, Henry, Ray, George, and Hugh Mapes.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly A. (Sidney) Shepherd; and brother, Delmar Mapes of Corning; grandchildren, Marc S. (Julie) Shepherd, Michelle S. Saxton (Duane), Marcie L. Hamilton (Mark), and Martin T. Shepherd (Kathy); g-grandchildren, Kirsten and Drew Shepherd, Megan and Kyle Saxton, Ellie and Mollie Hamilton, and Lauren, Stephanie and Matthew Shepherd; niece, Connie Palyun of Painted Post; nephew, Erford "Sonny" Keeler of Corning.

She was a 50-year member of Harmony Loyal Chapter of Eastern Star, 50-year member of the Court of the Amaranth and a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was employed by the Chemung Co. Sales Tax and retired from NY State Correctional Facility.
