Diane L. Mapes, 64, Topeka, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at her home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Topeka, the daughter of William E. and Florence Eastman Eastman.
Mrs. Mapes was a member of Central Congregational Church, Topeka Chapter No. 462 of the Order of Eastern Star, where she was past grand master, and Trinity Shrine No. 7 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, where she was a worthy high priestess.
She married Rodney M. Mapes on Sept. 24, 1952, in Springfield, Minn. He preceded her in death in January 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Stephen Mapes and Larry Mapes, both of Topeka, and Jeffrey Mapes, Havensville; three daughters, Margo Farmer-Murphy, Brenda Janssen and Colleen Mapes, all of Topeka; her mother, Florence Eastman, Topeka; two brothers, Gerald Eastman, Topeka, and Roger Eastman, Choshacton, Ohio; a sister, Joyce Byrd, Topeka; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Central Congregational Church. Chapter No. 462 will conduct Order of Eastern Star services.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Mapes will lie in state after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
