Daisy Mae Mapes, 82, of Mulberry, died at 7:55 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the Arma Care Center in Arma.

She was born April 8, 1922 at Hunnewell, Mo., to Ralph Sr. and Irene Balliet Barr. She attended Center High School in Center, Mo.

She was a homemaker.

She married William Roy Mapes on Dec. 27, 1940 at Lamar, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1993.

She lived in Burgess, Mo., until September of 1994, when she moved to Hometown Village in Mulberry.

She moved to Arma in 2003 with her daughter, Angela Kee and family who was her caregiver.

She lived in numerous cities due to her husband's job.

She was a member of the Mulberry Christian Church.

Survivors include her 15 children, Clara Mae Van Winkle of Marshall, Mo., Fay Marie Bates of Charleston, S.C., William Roy Mapes of Liberty, Mo., David Lee Mapes of Independence, Mo., Linda Louise Ruffin of Kansas City, Kan., Gary Eugene Mapes of Pittsburg, Bruce Wayne Mapes of Burgess, Stanley Steven Mapes of Arma, Sandra Kay Moore, Ronnie Joe Mapes of Arcadia, Larry Ray Mapes of Sebring, Fla., Pamela Jean Marshall of Fort Scott, Connie Sue Bright of Mulberry, Christine Ann Bowen of Girard, and Angela Irene Kee of Arma; one brother, Glen Barr of Middleton, Mo.; 33 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Barr Jr. and Earl Barr; two sisters, Fay Marie Barr and Fern Shoemate; and one granddaughter, Karla Ellen Van Winkle.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with the Rev. Paul Rooks officiating.

Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery at Mulberry.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bedene Chapel, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home of Arma.
