Jean Manville Lockwood, age 87, of Durham NH, died June 28, 2003. She was born in Tuxedo NY on Sept. 13, 1915, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth (Hyde) Manville. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1937 and Syracuse University in 1938 with a library science degree, and then she worked at Dartmouth College Library from 1938-1942. She was a resident of Durham since 1948.
She and her husband of 61 years, Dr. John A. Lockwood, a retired physics professor at the University of New Hampshire, traveled extensively. Bern, Switzerland, was a "second home" for several months each year for 10 years. Mrs. Lockwood did volunteer work for the Channel 11 Auction, and for Huggins and Wentworth-Douglass hospitals. She was a member of the Tuesday Afternoon Club in Durham and a parishioner of St. George's Church since 1948.
She is survived by her husband of Durham; daughters Elizabeth "Heidi" Clow of Weare NH, Nancy White of Redwood City CA, and Jane Lincoln of East Falmouth MA; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
