Mrs. Justin Lange
The death of Mrs. Helen C. Lange, widow of Justin Lange, occurred Saturday morning in her home at No. 65 Chestnut street, Cooperstown, after a three-weeks' illness with a heart ailment and complicaitons.
Born october 5, 1856, in Manville, a daughter of Levi and Lydia (Shay) Manville, she was twice married. Her first husband and E.A. Baker, and after his death she became the wife of Justin lange, Cooperstown hotelman. Together they conducted the old carr's hotel for a number of eyars. Mr. Lange died in 1922. In more recent years many had enjoyed the hospitality of mrs. Lange's tourist home on Chestnut street.
Surviving are two nephews, George manville of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Claude Manville of Niagara Falls. E.M. Shay and her sister, Miss Edith Brumaghim of Cobleskill, have cared for Mrs. Lange during her illness.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 o'clock from the Ingalls Funeral home. The Rev. Jackson L. Cole, rector of Christ church, officiated, and interment was made in the family plot in Lakewood cemetery.
