Notes: THE PARIS NEWS, May 1, 1991: 'Dorothy Brown, 56, of Powderly died Tuesday, April 30, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bubby Barnett and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3990, will officiate. Burial will be in Long Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown was born July 14, 1934, in Medill, Texas, a daughter of O. H. and Louise Ferguson Mantooth. She married John Max Brown on July 30, 1960, in Paris. She was a Baptist and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a retired medical radiologist and was a member of the American and Texas Registry of Radiologic Technologists and of the Texas Registry of X-Ray Technicians and the Society of Nuclear Technology. She attended school six years in Dallas and attended the College of Radiology in Chicago where she studied cancer research and treatment. Surviving are her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Teena and Michael Fleming of Buffalo, Wyo.; one son, Roger Harrell of Dallas; two grandchildren, Angela and Jon-Michael Fleming of Buffalo, and three brothers, Charles Mantooth of Paris, Joe Mantooth of Sherman and Jerry Mantooth of Houston.' *From an undated Paris newspaper clipping: 'Funeral services for Betty Dorothy Mantooth Brown of Powderly were conducted Thursday in Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Barnett and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3990, officiated. Burial was in Long Cemetery. Bearers were Bill R. Moseley, E. C. Hancock, Bill Tribbey, Don Kosterman, J. T. Childers, and J.W. Ashmore. Mrs. Brown died April 30 at St. Joseph's Hospital.'
