Mansur, Betty Jo was born on September 19, 1927, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Grace and Raymond Weber Sauer. The family lived for 13 years in West Virginia and then settled in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where Betty Jo graduated from Carr Central High School with honors and served as editor of the high school newspaper. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, in 1949 with a BA in History and Political Science. Betty Jo then moved to Dallas, Texas, where she worked as a secretary in a large law firm for 10 years. In 1960, she married Charles Mansur, a widower with two children and settled in a home in Frontenac, Missouri for the next 50 years. She spent many happy weekends at the Mansur's pre-Civil War farm in Ray County, Missouri. In St. Louis she kept busy with reading, gardening, playing bridge, and study groups at Ladue Presbyterian Chapel. She also enjoyed traveling and membership in the St. Louis Symphony Society and the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Betty Jo has left her son (Richard Mansur of Holts Summit, MO), her daughter (Cheryl Darnell of Nashville, TN), and two grandchildren (Gabrielle Darnell Pryor and Travis Darnell, both of Nashville, TN), and her brother, Ray Sauer, of Pittsburgh, PA. Services: The funeral will be private, and interment will be in the Ladue Chapel Memorial Garden. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent through the church to Joplin citizens who lost their homes in the May 2011 tornado.
