INDIAN WAR VETERANS WIDOW

Flora was born on 2 April 1863 in Iowa. She was the daughter of Wilson and Jane (West) Manners.

On 30 November 1882, in Portland, Oregon she married Melvin Lee Cloyes. Together they had three children, George Cloyes, Hattie (Cloyes) Lodde and Nellie (Cloyes) Gaupp. They remained together until Melvin's death on 3 January 1924.

Melvin was a veteran of the Indian Wars, enlisting in 10 November 1875 in San Francisco, Californai. He spent 5 years in the military assigned to Company "F", 12 th Infintry, until he was Honorably discharged on 9 November 1880, at Fort Mojage, Arizona.

Flora was admitted to the Washington Veterans Home on 6 May 1936. She remained at the Home until her mental fitness began to fail and she was transfered to Steilacoom, Washington on 10 March 1949.

On 29 March 1949 Flora passed away at Steilacoom, Washington and was buried in the Washington Veterans Home Cemetery at Retsil, Washington.
