Juanita was the daughter of John Baxter Maney and Lillie May Randall. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri. Her father died in 1931 so her mother and siblings moved out to California. While living in Los Angeles she met her husband Kenneth Allison Ashby II. Then they moved to Sacramento where they lived and raised two sons and one daughter. Mom retired form the Pacific Telephone Company after 25 years of service.
