Martha Maness Crim, 85, died Friday, November 27, 2010 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 30, from 5:30-8 p.m. and Wednesday, December 1, at 1 p.m. before the funeral at 2 p.m. Services will be held at Shelton Funeral Home in Trenton, TN. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. Crim was born to J.B. and Wilsie Capps Maness on June 21,1925 in Weakley County, TN. She was reared in Greenfield, TN where she graduated from Greenfield High School before attending the University of Tennessee at Martin and Murray State University. She then taught school for two years in Sharon, TN. She married Perry Day Crim and they began their married life in San Angelo, TX before coming back to Trenton where she lived the remainder of her life. She was the secretary at Peabody High School for 18 years and attended First Baptist Church in Trenton for 63 years. One of her enjoyments in life was playing cards. She was an active member of a rummy club and two bridge clubs, one of which she enjoyed for 55 years. She was always happy to be a hostess for the Tours of Homes, as her home was on the Historical Register. She is survived by two daughters, Martha Emily Crim Ross and husband Gary of Germantown, and Cathey Day Crim Sturgeon and husband Eddie of Trenton; three grandchildren, Martha Dorian Ross, Kelcie Day Ross Fountain and husband Trip, and James Tildon Haynes IV Sturgeon; one great-grandson, Laughlin Britt Fountain IV; step-grandchildren, Edward Clinton Sturgeon and Madison Leigh Sturgeon; brothers, Charles Maness (Sue) and Harold Maness (Shirley); sisters-in-law, Dudley Taylor, Evelyn Albright and Sandra Crim; and brother-in-law, Johnny Cavender. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Perry Day Crim; parents; sister, Emily Cavender; brother Edward Maness (Vanny); and brothers in law, Thurmond Crim and Son Taylor.
