Old Pittston Resident Dead Mrs. Mary Connors
Pittston has lost another of its pioneer residents in the death of Mrs. Mary Conners, who passed away at her home on Parsonage Street Sunday morning at 2 o'clock, following a brief illness. Deceased was not in the best of health for the past five weeks but was able to be around until a week ago when she was compelled to take to her bed. A complication of diseases setting in. Her condition became critical on last Friday, and from then until the end she showed no signs of improvement. She was a sister of the late Honorable Thomas Maloney. She was born in Canojaharie, New York, and came to Pittston when quite young, where she since made her home.
She was twice married, her first husband being a Mr. Gilroy and the late husband, Mr. Connors. Mrs. Connors was an exemplary woman, a devout Catholic, and was esteemed by a large number of friends. Four children survive: E. J. Gilroy of Jamestown, New York; T. J. Conners of upper Pittston; Mrs. William Gorsuch and Miss Belle Conners, both at home. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. Martin Murphy of upper Pittston, and Mrs. M. O'Brien of Omaha Neb.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning with a requiem mass in Saint Johns R. C. Church at 10:15 and interment will be in Saint Johns Cemetery.
