JAMES F. MALONE IS STRICKEN BY DEATH

Prominent Citizen Succumbed at St. Joseph Hospital Monday After Several Weeks Illness

James F. Malone, a practicing attorney, former county and city official and for many years prominent in the civic affairs of the community, died at St. Joseph hospital Monday evening of a cardiac condition extending over a ten weeks period.

Mr. Malone thirty-eight years ago entered the practice of law with his father, the late James F. Malone, here. Since that time he had taken an active part in the governmental and civic affairs of the county and the city. Recently he had been engaged to recordify city ordinance of Beaver Dam.

He had served as district attorney for this county for a term of two years and on several occasions had served the city as its official attorney. He was a lifelong Democrat and at the time of his death was chairman of the Dodge county Democratic Committee.

His other activities included twenty years as secretary of the Dodge County Fair association of whose board he was a member at the time of death; secretary of the Wisconsin Fairs association for fifteen years; a director of the United States Trotting association; past president of the Elks Club, the Culture Club, Old Hickory Golf Club of which he was one of the founders.

He was a member of the Dodge County Bar association and of the state Bar association, a member of the board of directors for Williams Free Library and of the Farmers State Bank of this city, a position he held for the past fourteen years.

He was born at Juneau, Wis., on May 19th, 1888, and following the completion of his elementary and high school education there, entered the university of Wisconsin School of Law from which he graduated in 1911. His marriage to Marion Flannagan of this city occurred on September 3rd, 1914.

Surviving are his widow and two children, Mrs. Richard Glass of Los Angeles, Calif., and James D. Malone of this city. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Stephen and Joan Glass; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Elmer and Mrs. Thomas Mannix of Milwaukee. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

The funeral services were held at St. Patrick church at ten o'clock this morning and were conducted by Rev. Wm. E. Wright. Burial was in St. Patrick cemetery.
