He was the son of Aleander and Helen Malkowski. He attended and graduated from high school in Chicago. He then entered into the United States Army on Nov. 5, 1952, serving during the Korean conflict until his honorable discharge on Oct. 12, 1954, at the rank of private, having received the National Defense Medal, United National Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Korean Service Ribbon with one bronze campaign star. He married Geraldine Clay on Aug. 6, 1970, in Chicago, Ill. He worked for the Chicago Police Department as an officer until retiring in 1986. He and his wife then moved to McAlester, where he worked for the McAlester Public School system as a security guard for 12 years until retiring in 2000. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed tending to his yard and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Malkowski, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and John Landaice, of Joliet, Ill., Donna and Mark Rolih, of Joliet, Ill., Becky Burks Malkowski, of Luther; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Malkowski, of Lansing, Ill., Robert and Barbara Malkowski, of Crystal Lake, Ill., Wayne and Ann Sennett, of Arpelar; a sister, Sharon Windsburg, of Yorba Linda, Calif. And a sister-in-law, Anna Mooney, of Bache; two brothers-in-law and spouses, Doyle and Joyce Clay, of McAlester, Hoyt and Gayle Clay, of Billings, Mo.; six grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and special friends, Donald and Loretta White, Pauline Cates, and members of the Arpelar Cornerstone Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Helen Malkowski, and two brothers, Ronald and Richard Malkowski. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Pastor Paulette Crawford officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
