OGDEN - Jean Bedford Malan, age 83, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Crestwood Care Center in Ogden.
She was born January 7,1921 in Big Timber, Montana, a beloved daughter of Perry E. and Alma Williamson Bedford. She married her eternal companion, C. Walter Malan on December 19, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1993.
Jean was a faithful member of the Mt. Lewis 1 st Ward (formerly the Ogden 59th). She loved the church and had a deep and abiding testimony. She was a master teacher and taught in nearly all church auxiliaries. She especially enjoyed her 16 years serving in the Ogden Temple with her sweetheart and husband.
She was a creative homemaker. She loved to cook and share her talents with family and friends. Jean had a zest for life, a wonderful sense of humor and a youthful outlook. She was warm, genuine, charitable and caring. Jean will be forever remembered as a cherished mother, grandmother and friend.
Surviving are her children, Pat (Steve) Smith, Plain City; Kent(Christine) Malan, No. Ogden; Alan (Kim) Malan, Provo;Boyd Malan, Perry; Marilyn (Bruce) Newton, Plain City; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Lewis 1st Ward Chapel, 435 N. Jackson Ave., with Bishop Brent Nielsen officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., and on Saturday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
