Helen I. Maganini, 81, of Duluth died Thursday, July 2, 1998, in Chris Jensen Nursing Home in Duluth. She was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Alango, Minn., the daughter of Jacob and Sanna Maki.

She grew up and attended schools in Alango, graduating from the Alango High School in 1934. She married Fred J. Maganini on Feb. 13, 1935, in Virginia. They lived in Red Lake Falls for one year and then lived several years in Virginia. They moved to Duluth's Riverside area in 1942 and lived there until 1997, at which time they moved to St. Ann's Residence in Duluth. She had worked as a medical aide at Lake Haven Manor for 17 years.

She was a past president of the PTA at the former Riverside School, had attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and was involved with the church women's circles. She had worked as an election judge for many years and was a member of the Riverside Garden Club. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles and also was an excellent cook.

She was preceded in death by four sisters; three brothers; and parents.

Helen is survived by her husband, Fred Maganini; daughters: Kay (Milt) Hill, and Pam (\ Kirby) Klingelhofer; and two grandchildren.
