Hollingsworth, Jane Majure
passed away on Friday, June 13, fifteen days before her 93rd birthday. She was born in Newton, Mississippi, to Robert Stanley Majure, Sr. and Carrie Cross Majure in 1921, one of six children, three girls and three boys. She graduated from Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. She married William T. Hollingsworth in 1943. Two children Elizabeth, Oxford, Ohio, and David, Denver, Colorado, survive their beloved mother. The Hollingsworths moved to Oxford, Ohio in 1960 when William accepted the position of Dean of Men at Miami University. William preceded Jane in death in 1986. While in Oxford Jane obtained a Masters degree in English and taught at Stewart Junior High School and Talawanda High School. She was a beloved teacher who inspired many students in her English classes. Jane was a loyal member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church, a devoted P.E.O. (philanthropic educational organization), a loyal volunteer at McCullough-Hyde Hospital, and enjoyed her years as a docent at the Miami University Art Museum. For relaxation she enjoyed a challenging game of bridge and was very good at it. She delighted in travel, especially the unusual opportunity to travel with her beloved sister, Sissy Dowd, during Semester at Sea, an around the world voyage. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Coby Senoff, William Hollingsworth and Olivia Hollingsworth Baxter, and many nieces and nephews. Ogle and Paul R. Young Funeral Home is serving the family. There will be a memorial service celebrating Jane's life at a later date this summer.
