ANN E. BOGENRIEF

Ann E. (Mahaney) Bogenrief, 96, of Rockport, Mo., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Community Hospital in Fairfax, Mo.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Nativity in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Sernett, former pastor of Nativity Church, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 2 to 9 pm. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bogenrief was born Nov. 19, 1906, in Sioux City, the daughter of J. Albert and Elizabeth (Bushar) Mahaney. She graduated from Liberty High School in Merrill, Iowa. She then attended Morningside College and earned her teacher's certificate.

She married Douglas M. Bogenrief on Nov. 19, 1929, at St. Joseph Church in Ellendale, Iowa. Mr. Bogenrief died on May 16, 1999, in Sioux City. She taught for several years at Hinton, Iowa. She spent the majority of her life in the Sioux City area.

Mrs. Bogenrief was a member of the Church of the Nativity in Sioux City and a member of the Nativity Ladies Guild.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas A. and his wife, Alice E. Bogenrief of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Gary G. Bogenrief of Rockport, Mo.; five granddaughters, Linda Bogenrief of Fresno, Calif., Sherry Anders of Papillion, Neb., Lori Wilczek of Liberty, Mo., Julie Umbarger of Westboro, Mo., and Margie Hendrickson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a grandson, Gary Bogenrief of St. Louis, Mo.; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and George Mahaney.

Pallbearers will be Larry Mahaney, Gary Lee Bogenrief, Brian Anders, Cory Bogenrief, Aaron Wilczek and Paul Kirwin.
