She married Durward L Chapman June 1 1957 in Rockford, Illinois. Marlys was raised as Durward's daughter, and was always a Chapman. Zylpha & Durward had no children together.

Survived by granddaughters, Deborah (Michael) Jensen; great-grandson, James (Tanysha) Montana; great-great grandson, Jacob Montana; great-great-grand-daughter, Terra Montana; and son-in-law, Adolph Thibert.
