She was born in Kingston on May 22, 1927, a daughter of the late Peter and Edith Dick Maguire. Margaret was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1945, and a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. She received her BS in nursing from College Misericordia.
Prior to her retirement, Margaret had been employed as a registered nurse and night shift nursing supervisor at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for 44 years.
She was a member of the Kingston High School Alumni Association and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Nursing School Alumni Association. Margaret was a member of St. Andre Bessette Parish in Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Austin Sr., in 1984; and by her son, Thomas J. Austin Jr., in 2012.
Margaret is survived by her children, Margaret B. Austin and her husband, Frank Dupak, Bear Creek Township; Peter R. Austin, Harveys Lake; grandchildren, Ashley and Lauren Austin; sister, Edith Maguire, Bear Creek Township; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. in St. Andre Bessette Parish, 668 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Kenneth Seegar will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
