Anna Maria Mager, 92, died on her birthday, Friday, May 18, 2012, at the Golden LivingCenter in Shippenville.
Born May 18, 1920, in Schelklingen, Germany, she was one of eight children born to Joseph and Anna Maria Helfrich.
Anna came to the United States in 1951 through Ellis Island and later became a U.S. citizen.
She was an excellent mother, gardener and homemaker.
She was married Nov. 20, 1952, to Professor John G. Mager. They had celebrated 49 years of marriage before his death on Feb. 21, 2001.
She was affiliated with Christ Lutheran Church in Oil City and Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and needlepoint.
She is survived by two children, Barbara Kirsch of New Castle and Dr. John G. Mager Jr. of North Carolina; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Harold O. Jacobson, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion, officiating.
Interment will be in Clarion Cemetery.
