MAGEE, CLARA JULIA--Clara Julia Magee was born to Fred Heller and Sophia Most Heller on June 27, 1901, at Geneva and passed away May 1, 1985, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 4 days. She was one of six children in the family.
Clara was married to William T. Magee of Fairbury on May 11, 1920, and to them three children were born.
She was a member of the prince of Peace Lutheran Church, a 30-year member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary serving as past-president and past-district president. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and past-president of World War I Auxiliary.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Magee of Geneva; sisters, Alma Barnum of Geneva, Anna Burroughs of California, and Rose Leonard of Geneva; brothers, Henry Heller of Boise, Id., and Jess Heller of Las Vegas, Nv.; and a son-in-law, Melvin W. Houck of Indiana.
She is survived by her daughters, Juanita Houck of Geneva, Iola Hendrickson and husband, Arthur, of Lincoln and Wanda Pfohl and husband, Arthur, of Troy, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer and Son funeral Home in Geneva on Saturday, May 4, with the Rev. Elton Walth officiating.
Musical selections were “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “Beyond the Sunset.”
Serving as pallbearers were Darwin, Keith, and Rick Houck, Arthur Hendrickson Jr., James Hendrickson, and Mark Taylor.
Interment was in the Geneva public cemetery.
