Lizzie Katherine Magee was born August 8, 1891, at Albany, Missouri, to George and Agnes Magee. She was the sixth child of this union having four sisters and five brothers. She passed away November 5, 1981, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Kit, as she was known to her many friends and relatives, came to Ruskin, Nebraska, in 1907 with her parents and several of her brothers and sisters. They lived on a farm south of town. At that time, she was a young girl 16 years old. She attended school through the 6th grade and continued to live at her parents' home and having many neighbors like the Walls, Goods and Palmers, all spent many happy times together.
As a young girl, she was baptized in the Faith of our Lord, attending church faithfully at Ruskin, then later becoming a member of the First Christian Church in Nelson, where she remained until her death. When health permitted, she was active in the Ladies Aid Society and the Friendship Club.
February 2, 1910, Kit was united in marriage with Jens C. Jasperson at Hebron. To this union two sons and two daughters were born. One son died in infancy. They lived on farms close to Superior, Hardy, Nelson and Ruskin.
Jens passed away June 7, 1931. Kit moved to Nelson in June, 1941, and remained there until her passing.
Kit enjoyed life. She was always a good samaritan, even though sometimes the road was not easy. She had a close friend throughout her years, Ruth Burkett of Edgar. They spent many happy and enjoyed times together. Ruth passed away October 8, 1968.
Soon thereafter Kit had to give up her apartment home at the Spurling Hotel where she had lived for nine years and moved to the Good Samaritan Center, where she was a resident for 10 1/2 years. She broke her hip on January 18, 1977, but continued to improve, trying hard to walk again. But her age and health seemed to hinder her, although she had a "smile" for everyone. She always enjoyed her "coffee and cookies" break with the other residents and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Jens, and baby, Donald, her parents, her sisters and brothers, Maud Fallis, Sue McCann, Will, Jake, Jonce, Glenn and Floyd, and also a great grandson, Todd Daniel Aksamidt (sic) on December 2, 1965.
Survivors include her son, Garland and wife Inez, of Portland, Oregon; her son, Harland and wife Trevillon of Thornton, Colorado; her daughter, Dorothy Agnes, and husband, Henry Joy, of York; her daughter, Mary Katherine, and husband, Jack Slocum, of Geneva; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her sister, Agnes Henriksen of Nelson; her sister, Esther Garlick of Colorado Springs, Colorado, who had just passed away on November 3, 1981, at the home of her daughter Marge and Don Lavely in Roswell, New Mexico; and a sister-in-law, Lela Magee of Omaha.
Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church in Nelson with Rev. Richard Markland officiating. Music was played by Margaret Williams. Verleen Gharring and Joe Ferebee sang "Precious Memories" and "In The Garden". Casketbearers were Myron Joy, Jr., Clay Myers, Tuffy Culbertson, Gordon Meyer, Russ Snyder and Howard Olson. Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin. Klawitter Funeral Home, Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
