ALEJANDRINA MARIA MAESTAS ABEYTA, 80, a resident of Ohkay Owingeh and originally of Canjilon, passed away at the family home on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Jimmy Abeyta; son, Elmer Abeyta; parents, Pablo and Fedelia Maestas; in-laws, Jose Domingo and Anita Abeyta; brothers, Reynaldo, Isaque, Agapito, Salomon and Jose Maestas, sisters, Isabelita and Tonita; brothers-in-law, Faustine Martinez, Jose Baldonado, Jose (Slim) Abeyta, Tony Ortiz and Preston Keevama; sisters-in-law, Reyecita Keevama, Faustina Maestas and Marie Ortiz; daughter-in-law, Rose Abeyta; grandchildren, Ira, Naomi, Gerard, Epiphania Maria. Mrs. Abeyta is survived by her children, Eloy, Roy and David Abeyta, Michael Abeyta and companion Frances and his ex-wife, Marie Abeyta; Gloria, Irene, Dora and companion Allen, Judy Trujillo and husband John, Bernice Abeyta; granddaughter raised by her, Michalla Abeyta; brother, Antonio Maria Maestas; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation was Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. A second rosary was recited on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at the family home in Ohkay Owingeh. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial followed at the Ohkay Owingeh Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Elmer Jr., Eric Keevama, Jose Trujillo, Byron Abeyta, Leon Abeyta and Edward Maestas. Honorary pallbearers named are, Brian Aguino, Lindbert Martinez, Steve Grey and Allen Abeyta.
