Elizabeth Maestas Borunda, 62, of Farmington, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, in Farmington. She was born Jan. 8, 1952, in Durango, Colo., to Ethel Rodriquez and Manuael Maestas and raised by Octaviano Gallegos. Elizabeth was a loving mother of 62 years. She enjoyed spending time with her big family, giving caring smiles and many hugs. She enjoyed working at Farmington Municipal Schools, in various positions. She also enjoyed working with troubled youth at Halverson House in Farmington and Grand Junction, Colo. She received Primary Teaching Credits at San Juan College and a Teaching Degree at Fort Lewis College. She will be greatly missed. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Octaviano Gallegos (father), Ethel Rodriquez (mother) and Manuel Maestas (biological father).She is survived by her son, Serjio Borunda; daughters Christy Borunda and Rose Borunda Ruiz; brothers, Leroy Maestas, Bill Gallegos, Ray Gallegos and Dale Gallegos; sisters, Evelyn Maestas, Rita Powell, Elaine Mosqueda and Phyllis Ruiz and their families; and grandchildren, Obri Orozco, Adrian Ruiz and Joziel Ruiz.A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., today, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Columba Catholic Church, 1800 E. 2nd Ave. in Durango, Colo., with Father Kevin Novack as celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery, 900 Cemetery Road in Durango. Pallbearers are Leroy Maestas, Bill Gallegos, Ray Gallegos, Dale Gallegos, Obri Orozco and Adrian Ruiz.
