Agustin Maes, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
The family and friends of Agustin Maes lost a great man.� He was born November 11, 1944, in Trementina, NM to Delfinio and Filipita Maes. He attended Trementina Schools and went on to attend Robertson High School in Las Vegas, NM. He worked for the Wicks Co. and ICX in the early 60's and for the Rivera Construction� helpling build the pickle factory.� He went on to work at the Evetts Ranch in Corizon, NM, before moving to Tucumcari in 1966.� He was employed by the 7-A Feedlot in Tucumcari and later for Bill Scott and Johnny Lindsey, where he helped in the construction of Tucumcari City Hall and the Tucumcari Library.
He began working for the First National Bank in 1971 as custodian and continued working for Norwest Bank and later worked for the current Wells Fargo Bank until he retired in 2001. He will be remembered as the Christmas Tree Man.� He cut and sold Christmans Trees every Christmas Season for the past 38 years. He worked cutting lawns in the summers and chopping and selling fire wood in the winter.� He married Dora Moya in 1970.
Surviving Agustin is his wife, Dora of Tucumcari, NM; his son, Martin Maes of Tucumcari; three daughters, Tina Fehrenbach and husband, Dave of Rocklin CA, Katrina Maes of Albuquerque, NM and Christina Preciado and husband, Mark of Tucumcari; �6 Grandchildren, Philip, Mark�, Jonathon and Dominique Preciado�all of Tucumcari NM �and Ryan and Kyle Fehrenbach of Rocklin, CA.� Also surviving is his mother, Filipita Maes of Tucumcari, NM; two brothers, Fermin Maes of Albuquerque, NM and Gilbert Maes of Tucumcari ,NM; six sisters, Erlinda Blea, Conferina Chavez, Delfina Arachuleta, Adelina Vigil and Angela Romero all of Tucumcari, NM, and Lesa Gutierrez of Albuquerque, NM.
He is preceded in death by his father, Delfinio Maes; brother, Nick Maes; two sisters, Angela and Maria Maes, along with Grandparents�Elisa And Daniel� Maes and� Augustina and Josenez Sena.
�Rosary services will be Sunday evening at 7:00 PM in the St. Anne's Catholic Church.� Mass of the Resurrection will be offered on Monday morning at 11:00 AM in St. Anne's Catholic Church with Rev. Father Leo Padget as celebrant.� Pall Bearers will be� Chris Baca, Anthony Baca, Michael Maes, Jonas Moya, Andrew�Moya and Philip Preciado. Interment will follow in the Newkirk Cemetery at Newkirk New Mexico.
