Antonia Maés, age 99, a resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
Antonia was born on June 13, 1913 in El Ojo del Caballo, NM, to Felipe Aveita and Maria Laura Martínez-Aveita.
Antonia was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters, her husband, Cipriano Maés, grandson, Marshall Gutiérrez and various nieces and nephews.
Antonia liked canning, gardening, crocheting, loved music, visiting family and friends. Antonia worked at the Javal Factory as an inspector.
Antonia is survived by her sister, Cecilia Peña of Las Vegas, NM, son, Gilbert Abeyta of Las Vegas, NM and daughter, Mary Gutiérrez of Las Vegas, NM.
Public viewing will be held at Rogers Chapel in Las Vegas, New Mexico from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012, with Father Douglas Mitchell as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Socieda de San Antonio, Upper Town, NM.
