Virginia P. Madsen Bogart
BLACKFOOT -- I was born in Thornton, Idaho, on Oct. 23, 1917, to Gundel and Judson Dickson. I died May 3, 2009, at 91 at the Willows Care Center in Blackfoot.

We moved to Montana when I was 5 years old. Dad worked on a ranch in Grasshopper near Dillon.

I lived there until I married Leland Madsen on Sept. 29, 1938. We moved to Malad, where we had five children, Glenda Kaye, Gary Lee, Keith, Kenneth and Sandra Rae.

In 1949, we moved to the Pahsimeroi Valley, where we purchased a ranch. We lived there until Leland was killed June 17, 1963. Two years later, I moved to Salmon, where I worked at a nursing home and Steele Memorial Hospital. I later moved to Dillon, Mont., where I worked at a nursing home for six years.

I married Everett Ivan Bogart on April 26, 1972. We made our home in Salmon until Everett's death on Jan. 6, 1995. I continued to live in Salmon until my health failed me and I moved to Blackfoot with my daughter. I also enjoyed Salmon Search and Rescue for many years.

I am survived by my children, Kaye Simmons, Gary Madsen, Keith Madsen and Sandy (George) Benboe; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. I was preceded in death by my parents, Gundel and Judson Dickson; my sisters, Stella, Blanche, Gunnie, Violet, Lois and Nola; my husband, Leland Madsen; my son, Kenneth Madsen; and my husband, Everett Bogart.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, at the Patterson LDS church. Arrangements are by Salmon River Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in May, Idaho, under the direction of Salmon River Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kenny Madsen Scholarship Memorial Fun at East Idaho Credit Union, Box 262 Challis, ID 83226; or to Salmon Search and Rescue, 206 Washington St., Salmon, ID 83467.
