CHESAPEAKE - Corine V. Macon, 91, formerly of Norfolk, died Nov. 6, 2009, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. She was born and raised in Courtland, Va. She was the daughter of the late Jesse D. Vick and Betty Norman Lamb Vick and the widow of Joseph E. Macon, her husband of 50 years.
Corine was a member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1970 and a former member of Colonial Avenue Methodist Church where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women. Corine worked for Hofhemier Shoe Store on Granby Street in Norfolk for 18 years as a payroll clerk.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Macon Martin and husband David; two grandsons, David J. Martin and Sean Martin; one granddaughter, Heather Martin; sisters-in-law, Edna W. Vick and Jean Vick; brothers- in-law, Frank Wine Sr. and Everett Lassiter; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Frances V. Ward, Marion V. Jernigan, Betty V. Wine and Ida Lassiter, and three brothers, Lloyd J. Vick, Alton J. Vick, and George W. (Bill) Vick.
The family would like to thank a special caregiver, Bernice Moore.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dan Phillips Abbott. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
