MACKINAW - James Mackie, 92, formerly of Mackinaw and Minier, Ill., died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Hawthorne Village in Clinton, Ill.
He was born July 25, 1915, in White Ash, Ill., the son of William and Lois Jack Mackie. He married Imogene Albrecht on Dec. 25, 1934, in Hoyleton, Ill., and she preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 1990.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy Knoth of Clinton; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several half sisters.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard; one grandson; three sisters and one half brother.
Mr. Mackie owned and operated several businesses in the area and was employed by American Republic Insurance Co. for 20 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WWII and the Korean War, and was a member of Emory Whisler American Legion Post 607 in Mackinaw. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge 421 in Washburn, Ill.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Haensel Funeral Home in Mackinaw. The Rev. Don Doty will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Mackinaw Cemetery, with military rites accorded by his legion post.
Memorial contributions may be made to Minier or Mackinaw Rescue Squads.
