Gretchen E. Bushmen, 63, of Springdale, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.

She was born Nov. 16, 1948, to the late John and Margaret Buerkle Mackey and has been a lifelong resident of the Valley.

Mrs. Bushmen worked in Human Resources for Family Services of Western Pennsylvania for more than 20 years.

She was a member of Our Lady Of Victory Church in Harwick.

Gretchen enjoyed reading and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

She especially looked forward to going to Geneva-on-the-Lake for a vacation every year with her family and friends.

She was the loving wife of 41 years to James R. Bushmen; mother of Christopher J. Bushmen, of Springdale, Lisa A. (Stephen) Penrod, of Springdale, and Joseph M. Bushmen, of Springdale; devoted grandmother of Dillon and Abigail Penrod and Brooke Bushmen; sister of Joann Mackey Hafera, of Harwick; aunt of Julie Hafera and Bryant and David Bushmen; and dear cousin of the Buerkles, Scotts, Halls, and Voddes.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St., with Christian Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Of Victory Church, Harwick, with burial to follow in Our lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gretchen's name to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 401, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
