Josephine M. Leckrone, 93 of Nazareth, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ and Sarrasota, FL passed away peacefully Monday, March 29, 2010 in Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth.
Born: June 20, 1916 in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Elias J. and Pearl Cunningham Mackey. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands Dr. Thomas Willever who died in 1969, Douglas Hendrickson who died in 1994 and John Leckrone who died in 1998. She was also predeceased by her brothers, the Rev. Dr. Sheldon Mackey and John Mackey who died while serving his country in WW II.
Personal: Josephine was a graduate of Liberty High School and the Easton Hospital School of Nursing. In her professional life as a Registered Nurse, she worked in different capacities at various facilities. She was an avid bridge player who also loved to read and solve crossword puzzles. She was a prolific gardener with a special fondness for roses. Josephine enjoyed being with people, and, in her later years, she particularly enjoyed spending time with her friends at Moravian Hall Square.
Memberships: She was a member of Dryland United Church of Christ, in Newburg, PA.
Survivors: She is survived by her loving family, daughters; Ann MacMullan and her husband Norman of Hatfield, PA and Mary Jo Klockner and her husband Richard of Hamilton, NJ; a step-daughter, Joan Paules of Bethlehem; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer MacMullan, Bradley MacMullan and his fiancée Leticia Rodriguez, Susanne Klockner and Thomas Klockner; 3 step-grandsons; 1 great-grandchild, Matthew MacMullan; 4 nephews and 1 niece.
Services: A memorial service will be held, at 11 am, Saturday, April 10 in Kortz Hall at Moravian Hall Square, 175 West North St., Nazareth 18064 with Rev. Dorothy Burcaw officiating. A private graveside service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Northampton Memorial Shrine with Rev. David Quinn presiding.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in memory of Josephine to the Good Samaritan Fund of Moravian Hall Square.
