A funeral was held July 6 in LaFollette’s Chapel in Burns.
She was buried in the Catholic section of Burns Cemetery.
Mrs. Mace was born in Anaconda, Mont., to Alfred and Anna (McKenna) Whitmarsh.
Leaving Montana, she arrived in Burns at the age of 16 riding a white horse. She married Clarence Mace in Burns Feb. 11, 1928. She spent her life ranching and also owned and operated the Burns Taxi Service for nine years.
She is survived by sons Gene of Burns and Frederick of Battle Mountain, Nev.; daughters Carmen Rogers of Molalla; Carita Dawson of Burns, and Carlan Haines of Echo; stepson Louis of Springfield; stepdaughter Imogene Reinkemeyer of Burns; 29 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Duane L. and stepson Baldwin (Pud).
