Marguerite Allan traveled in first class with her two daughters and their maids aboard the Lusitania. Marguerite was married to Hugh Montagu Allan and was the mother of four children: Marguerite Martha, Hugh, Anna Marjory and Gwendolyn Evelyn.
Marguerite survived the disaster with an injured back and broken collarbone. She jumped from the ship's railings, with the intention of dying with her two daughters, but was picked up out of the water. Her daughters perished. Mauguerite and her husband both outlived all of their children. Their only son, Hugh, died in WW1, and their eldest daughter, Martha in 1942. Marguerite and Montague are both buried in a family grave with their daughter, Gwen. A stone marker also sits there in memory of Anna whose body was not recovered.
