SACO -- Johan E. Grondin, 82, of Saco, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at her residence.
She was born in Saco on Oct. 23, 1928, the daughter of Sinclair and Catherine McMillen MacIntosh. She was a graduate of Thornton Academy in Saco.
Johan married her husband Fred on Oct. 14, 1950. She was a home-maker who loved raising her six children.
Mrs. Grondin was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch and knitting. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Biddeford and Saco Country Club.
Most of all, Johan loved to spend time socializing and cooking for her family and friends.
Mrs. Grondin was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church in Saco.
She was predeceased by four sisters, Jean, Isabelle, Helen and Catherine. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fred Grondin of Saco; three sons, Frederick Grondin Jr. and his wife Pamela of Loveland, Colo., John Grondin of Hollis, Joel Grondin and his wife Darcy of Dayton, three daughters, Johanna Kerry and her husband Richard of Saco, Marsha Kimball and her husband Lawrence of Racine, Wis., Barbara Boutin and her husband Donald of Saco; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco. To send private condolences to the family go to www.cotefuneralhome.com.
