It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear sister, aunt Althea (MacIntosh) Finney of Sydney Mines on Sept. 7, 2013, at the age of 76.
Althea was born in Florence, and was the daughter of the late Hugh and Catherine (Dixon) MacIntosh.
She was a member of Wilson United Church in Florence. She was employed at Stone's Drug Store and Campbell's Grocery Store in Baddeck for many years.
Althea was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Edward Finney, brothers, Hugh, Everett, Alvin, Robert, Melrose, Donald, Daniel, sisters, Olga and Lois.
She is survived by her sisters, Margaret Branle, Ruby Squarey and Mae Audrey (Ches) Sexton, Rodney (Ralph) King; brothers, John and Tommy MacIntosh, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Althea will be deeply missed by her special niece, Nicole (Chris) Nicholson and their children, Jacob and Eve.
Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10 from Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Wilson United Church, Florence, with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial will take place in the Trinity Anglican Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wilson United Church.
