Jean M. Colville, 76 years old, of Sanford, ME and Lakeland, FL died Thursday morning, February 22, 2007 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford, ME.

Jean was born on March 1, 1930 in Bath, ME. She was the daughter of the late Arthur N. and Dorothy M. (Coombs) MacDonald. She graduated from Morse High School in 1948 and attended the Gorham State Teachers College where she graduated in 1952. Jean continued her education at the University of New Hampshire receiving advanced teaching credits.

For almost 30 years Jean taught the first grade. She taught in places such as Somerville, NJ, Scarborough, Kittery, Somersworth, NH, Dover, NH, and spent the majority of her teaching career, over twenty years, teaching at the Emerson School from 1969 until her retirement in 1989.

Jean was an active member of the community for many years. She was a former member of the York County American Red Cross Board of Directors, Rotary International, where she was a Paul Harris Fellow, the local and national Education Associations, the Maine Retired Teachers Association, the York County Teachers Association, and the College Club.

Jean enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, wintering in Florida, and playing golf at the Sanford Country Club where she was a member for many years. Her outgoing personality, and beautiful smile will be missed by her many friends and family.

Predeceasing Jean was her first husband Robert Brunelle in 1980.

Surviving Jean is her husband of over 18 years C. James Colville Jr. of Sanford, four sons, Mark A. Brunelle and his wife Karen of Alameda, CA, Bruce R. Brunelle and his wife Lisa of Sanford, Brian J. Brunelle and his wife Donna of Sanford, David A. Brunelle and his wife Jazzi of Portland, a step-son Clifford James Colville III and his wife Sherry of Scarborough; eight grandchildren, Jamie Brunelle, Kara Brunelle, Jeffrey Brunelle, Kevin Brunelle, Brianna Colville, Kaitlin Brunelle, Timothy Brunelle, Alex Colville, and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Benjamin Brunelle. Also surviving is a sister Sharon M. Patterson of Brunswick; two brothers, Paul N. MacDonald of Brunswick, and Peter L. MacDonald of Bath.

Visiting hours for Jean will be held this Monday, February 26, 2007 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, ME. An 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jean on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at St. Therese Parish, St. Ignatius Church in Sanford.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the York County Cancer Care Center, 27 Industrial Way, Sanford, ME 04073.

Funeral services for Jean have been arranged through the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home of Springvale, ME.
