Nellie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; both of her parents were born in Ireland. Joe later works as a shoe maker, then as a tool maker. Joe may also go by "Joseph Samuel, Sr." because his son is Joseph Samuel, Jr.
9.) Bernard Frederick MacATEE, Sr. (1886-1965) works as a bookkeeper and as a clerk in a bank, then marries Anna Catherine (McGowan) MacATEE (c.1887-1917); they have two sons. Anna was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; both of her parents were born in Pennsylvania, USA. Anna dies at the age of thirty from tuberculosis. As a widower, Bernard, Sr. becomes an accountant working for his own account and remarries Catherine Susanna (Peters) MacATEE (1897-1989); he has three more sons with Catherine. I remember Paul, Sr. took us for a ride on his stage coach when my mother took us to visit her MacAtee relatives -- must have been in the 1980s.
