Buford Mobley, age 82 of Vidalia died Friday, December 11, 2009 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, served as a Vidalia City Councilman for sixteen years, worked with Lake McDonald Construction for eighteen years, and retired from Goodyear and Georgia Tire after twenty-one years. He was a charter member of the Aimwell Holiness Church and served as the church secretary and treasurer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Linnie Mobley and a brother, Willis Mobley.

Mr. Mobley is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ruby Dowd Mobley of Vidalia, two daughters, Shirley Davis and Wayne of Vidalia and Sissy Mobley Warnock and Gregg of Tarrytown, two sons, Loyd Mobley and Dawn and Billy Mobley and Diane all of Vidalia, one sister, Minnie Dean Mixon of the Center Community, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 13, 2009, at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Neil Bridges, Reverend Archie Morgan, Reverend David Yawn and Elder Bill Torrance officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening December 12, 2009, from 6:00 until 9:00. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Community Hospice P. O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
