Donald L. Martin, 66, of 2108 Cassopolis St., was dead on arrival, apparently from a heart attack, at General Hospital at 6:46 a.m. today. He was stricken in his home.
Mr. Martin and his wife founded Donalyn's Florist and Greenhouse in 1955. It has continued as a family business. He was formerly a superintendent at Hart Press Steel Co. and co-owner of Nordon Products Co. He also was active in the Osolo School system affairs.
He was born Sept. 8, 1910, in Elkhart, and married Leona Wassmund June 27, 1937. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Dwight (Barbara) Topley, South Bend, and Mrs. Richard (Sarah) Kaser, Elkhart; seven grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Ira W. (Maude) Martin, Elkhart; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Evelyn) Andersen, Indiana Lake, and three nieces.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the White Funeral Home. The body will be taken Friday to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, of which he was a member, to lie in state from 1 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Samuel E. Carlton will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
