d/o Samuel & Sophia Reese Lyter, m. 23 May 1854 to Barton Stathem Glaspell, s/o James and Jane Stathem Glaspell b 12 Oct 1832, Ludlow, KY, d. 4 Feb 1888 Bentonville, Arkansas.
(Obit): One of the oldest settlers, Mrs. Martha E. Glaspell died in Chicago Saturday from heart trouble. Mrs. Glaspell came to Davenport from Knoxville, Knox County, IL with her parents in 1837. Her father was one of the early merchants in Rockingham Twnshp, and one of the first merchants in Davenport. Here she was married to Barton S. Glaspell whose death occurred in 1888, February 4th. A few years ago she removed to Chicago. Two children survive her, Harry [Harrison Jones] Glaspell and [Bertha] Mrs. Bert Morse. [Only 2 children lived to adulthood]
The funeral will take place from the residence of J. M. Glaspell, 621 LeClaire St. at 10 o-clock Monday morning.
