LANDISBURG - Genevieve Amy (Lyons) Bolze, 98, formerly of the Landisburg area, passed peacefully on January 28, 2013, at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle, PA. Born in Madison Township, Perry County, on May 18, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Gutshall) Lyons and the wife of the late Donald L. Bolze for over 58 years.
Genevieve was a 1931 graduate of the Landisburg High School and 1936 graduate of the York Hospital School of Nursing, with post-graduate studies at The Elizabeth Steel Magee Hospital of Pittsburgh, PA. She served as a supervisor of pediatrics at the Carlisle Hospital into the early 1940s, as a private visiting nurse throughout the County during the war and post-war years, and as an infirmary nurse at Tresslertown Orphan's Home and a church camp nurse during the 1950's.
She had been an active member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elliottsburg, lifetime alumnus of the York Hospital School of Nursing and Perry Chapter 459 Order of The Eastern Star.
Genevieve was united in marriage with Donald L. Bolze on December 23, 1939. She is survived by their daughters, Audrey J. Hess and husband Ronald of New Cumberland, PA, and Shirley J. Cluck and husband Frederick of Enola, PA, grandchildren Douglas M. Hess and wife Tatiana of Port Richey, FL, Bradley S. Hess of Brandon, FL, David S. Cluck and wife Jennifer of Phoenixville, PA, Jennifer C. Gilbert and husband Christopher of Enola, PA, and great-grandson Braydon Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, as well as brothers Wayne W., Meade G., and L. Gene Lyons.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 1, 2013 within the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 70 Limestone Ridge Road, Elliottsburg, Pa. 17024 with her pastor, The Rev. Miriam L. Nicholson, officiating. The viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield followed by fellowship with the family back in the church fellowship room.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to her church at P.O. Box 34, Elliottsburg, PA 17024.
