Verle L. Hall

Verle L. Hall, 84, of Birmingham died 2:18 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the Jefferson Coutny Hospital Long Term Care Unit.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Birmingham United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Reva Rimmer officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Memorials have been established to the city park renovation fund, the Birmingham Lions Club and the Birmingham United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hall was born Nov. 6, 1916, near Rome, the daughter of Robert and Valeira Snyder Lyon. She married Elmer Adolph Hall March 3, 1935 at the First Baptist parsonage in Fairfield. He died Jan. 18, 1980.

She lived almost all of her life in the Birmingham community. She was a homemaker and had worked at a fabric store in Ottumwa.

She was a member of the Birmingham Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the quilting circle, wasa 4-H leader and did sewing alterations.

Survivors include her children, Letty Hall, Dean Hall and wife Sherry, Rex Hall and wife Diane, all of Birmingham, Larry Hall and wife Judith of Fairfield and Roberta Sieber and husband George of Spring Hill, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Max Lyon of Burlington and Harold Lyon of Davenport.

Preceding her in death were here(err) parents; one son, Donald; one grandson; two brothers Bruce Lyon and Raymond Lyon; and one sister, Bernice Albaugh.
