Barbara A. (Martin) Lynde, a woman of tremendous style and grace, died at her sons home, June 14, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. She was 81 years old. Barbara was happily married to the love of her life, John B. Lynde, the former vice-president of Mayflower Cooperative Bank. The couple met while they were both employed by the bank and they were married for 38 years before Mr. Lyndes death in 1992. Barbara was born in Middleboro and was a proud resident of the town for her entire life. She was born Aug. 2, 1929, and was a 1947 graduate of Memorial High School. She was a member of the Lady Sodality of Sacred Heart Church, Junior Cabot Club, Senior Cabot Club, the Ladies Guild as well as a volunteer for St. Lukes Hospital and the Mental Health Gift Shop. Barbara was known for her keen sense of fashion and also for her modeling at community events. In addition to her volunteer work, she loved to travel and was an avid Patriots fan. However, it was her family that gave her the most pride. Barbara is survived by her four children, John B. Lynde and his wife Bette of East Bridgewater, Stephanie Michaels and her husband James of Lakeville, Thomas and his wife Tammy (Chaffin) of Hampton, Ga., and Jennifer Jardin and her companion Robert F. Buckley of East Bridgewater. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Benjamin, Bethany and Hannah Lynde of Georgia, John Jardin of East Bridgewater, Amanda Michaels of Lakeville and Shawn, Craig, Kelly and Kristen McKinnon. She had one great-grandchild, Kiera McKinnon. Barbara is also survived by her sister, Helen (Martin) McQuade of Buzzards Bay; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anne (Martyn) and Nicholas Martin, as well as three brothers, Steven, Nicholas and Michael Martin, and two sisters, Rose Kimball and Mary Casey. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, KiKi. Public visitation will take place Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St., Lakeville. A private funeral service will be held Friday with interment in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
