Mr. and Mrs. James Archibald of Main street, Portville, N. Y., celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Saturday, the thirteenth.
The house was beautifully decorated with cut flowers, the color scheme being yellow and gold. Three bride's cakes adorned the various tables. A chicken dinner was served to fifty guests.
In the evening a dance was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Archibald of Brooklyn street in honor of the bride and groom of fifty years.
They were the recipients of several gold pieces and many beautiful and useful gifts. The out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hilmer, Mrs. Kittle Goding, Mr. and Mrs. Hudson Lyman, Hector Dardenne and children, Mr. Victor Manning and daughter Lenora, Mr. and Mrs, Walter Doll and children, Mr. and Mrs. John Lyman, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lyman. all of Port Allegany; Mr. and Mrs. Alec McCaig and daughter Dorothy of Lancaster; Mr. and Mrs. Rosco Lyman and daughter Dorothea, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Lyman and family, and Mr. Goodrich, of Roulette; J. W. Lyman and Clifton Lyman of coudersport; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lyman of Buffalo; Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Archibald and family of Olean and Mr. and Mrs. Burger of Haymaker.

Mrs. Dora Margaret Archibald, one of Portvllle's Gold Star Mothers, and wife of James Archibald passed away at her home on Main Street in this village Sunday afternoon [Feb 8] at about three o'clock, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Archibald was born in Roulette, Pa., on July 16, 1857. She has been a resident of Portville for many years, coming to this town after her marriage to Mr. Archibald. She became one of America's Gold Star Mothers In 1918 when her son Don L. Archibald was killed in action in France on November 5th, only five days before th» end of the World War. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons, M. J. Archibald, Olean, Lee E. and Glenn V. Archibald Friendship; one sister, Mrs. Chlor Helmer, Port Allegany; one brother, J. W. Lyman, Coudersport, Pa., eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Archibald was widely known and numbers among her friends a host of Portville and vicinity people, who sincerely mourn her death, and extend to Mr. Archibald their deepest sympathy. Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Harry Smith of Pentecostal Church, Haymaker, N. Y. officiated. Burial was made in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville.

Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hill of Olean; Mrs. Chloe Helmer, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Manning, Mr. and Mrs. George Godding, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Danne, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lyman, Bernard and Robert Lyman, Port Allegany; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lyman, Coudersport; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Goodrich, Bolivar; Fred and Frank Beckwith, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fitzsimmons, Bolivar; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lyman, Lancaster; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Archibald, Genevieve, Gloria and Glenna Archibald, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Archibald, Marian, George and Donald Archibald, Friendship; Mrs. E. F. Bell of Allegany and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bell of Bradford.
