The graveside service will be April 28 for Dorothy Lucille Buckner of Eugene, who died April 25 at age 69. The family chose not to list the cause of death.

She was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Alton, Ill., to Everett and Argie Counts Lutes. She married Charles W. Buckner in Kennett, Mo., on Sept. 27, 1952. He died Nov. 18, 2003.

She moved to Oregon from Illinois in 1965, and earned her GED from Lane Community College in 1982. She worked as a caregiver, cook, waitress and homemaker.

Buckner was devoted to her faith and enjoyed dancing, bingo and Yahtzee. She was a member of Women's VFW Post No. 293 in Eugene.

Survivors include two sons, Charles of Long Beach, Calif., and Robert of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Carla Buckner of Springfield and Donna Buckner of Eugene; four brothers, Robert Lutes and Phillip Lutes, both of Granite City, Ill., Everett Lutes of Tray, Ill., and Richard Lutes of Pearl, Miss.; a sister, Betty Daughtery of Caseyville, Ill.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A son, Sherman, died in 1994.

Wednesday's service will be at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home of Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Sacred Heart.
