Iris E. Greenwood, 97, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in New Castle.
She was born Feb. 16, 1917 in Rushville, a daughter of the late Edward and Lillian "Minnie" Vaughn Lushell.
She moved to New Castle in 2006 from Shelbyville after the death of her husband Robert.
Mrs. Greenwood had worked for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles for several years and also for a dental office in Rushville. She graduated from Rushville High School in 1936. She loved family activities and sharing time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, walking, and cooking for her family.
Left to cherish her loving memory include son, William E. Smith (wife Carolene) of New Castle; daughter, Susan Diane Emerick (husband Ronald) of Westfield; grandchildren, Lori Emerick Robison, Doug Emerick; great grandchild, Luke Robison; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband William Ross Smith; her second husband Robert Greenwood; sisters, Zelma Fleming, Frances Shelhorn, Helen Brown and Janet Westfall; brothers, Edward Lushell Jr. and Wallace "Bud" Lushell.
Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home & Cremation Services in New Castle with funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday April 30, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Gammello officiating.
Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville.
