BARRE CITY - Mildred Ruth McKnight, 83, of the North Barre Manor, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Berlin Health and Rehab Center. Her husband, John, was at her bedside.

BARRE - Mildred Ruth McKnight, 83, of the North Barre Manor, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband was at her bedside.
Born Jan. 16, 1930, in Cabot, she was the daughter of Erwin and Annie (Naugler) Lupien. She was a graduate of Montpelier High School in 1948.
On Feb. 27, 1971, she married John F. McKnight in Barre. All of their married life had been spent in Barre Town and Barre City.
Following her graduation, she joined the Montpelier office of New England Tel and Tel, becoming chief operator and retiring in 1972.
Walking her beagle Jasper, cribbage and traveling with her husband were very special times.
Her memberships included St. Monica Catholic Church, the Home Demonstration group in East Barre, Barre Canadian Club, Catholic Golden Age Group and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Besides her husband, John, at North Barre Manor, she leaves her two daughters, Robin McKnight, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Lanora Preedom, in New York state, and her son Randy McKnight, of Barre City; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Helen Averill, of Halifax, Mass., Arlene Burrows, of Poway, Calif., and Jean Dukette, of West Springfield, Mass., and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son John Buley; three brothers, Leon, John and Louis Lupien; and sisters Mary and Bernice.
Her committal service will be held Friday, May 31, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Hope Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.

BARRE CITY - The committal service for Mildred Ruth McKnight, of the North Barre Manor, was held Friday, May 31, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre. She died May 25, 2013, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The Reverend Leopold Bilodeau, Pastor of Saint Monica Catholic Church, led the service and was the Homilist. Words of remembrance were offered by several members of the congregation.
