Lillian Luper Banks Arthur

Lillian Luper Banks Arthur, 96, of 903 Tenth St., Altavista died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Banner Banks and J. Samuel Arthur.
She was born January 26, 1914 in Elk Creek, Virginia, a daughter of the late William Jessie Luper and Rosa Shore Luper. She was a founding charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Altavista, a member of the Scottish Rites Women and a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Robert Banks of Lexington, South Carolina; two brothers, Dewey Luper of Hillsville and Ralph Luper of Scottsdale, Arizona; three sisters, Carrie Yeatts of Tallahasse, Florida, Ruth Pack of Fries, Virginia and Evelyn Spitzer of Grottoes, Virginia; three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Stinnette; a grandson, Robert Banks, Jr.; and eight siblings.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Altavista Memorial Park by the Pastor Patricia Figueroa.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.

The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Trinity United Methodist Church, 9th Street, Altavista, VA 24517.
