Obituary of Joseph and Lida Bemis (Republican Reporter): Couple Killed; Rites Saturday - Oregon - Joint funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Farrell Funeral Home for Joseph C. Bemis, 75, Chana and his wife, Lida, 72, who were killed Tuesday night in a head-on collision just south of Chana. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home Friday evening. Mr. Bemis, an Ogle county Supervisor for 35 years before he retired, died instantly. His wife died in Rochelle Hospital less than three hours after the collision. Their car collided with a truck driven by Orville Cude, 40, 1072 Westview Drive, Rochelle. He was reported in good condition Wednesday in Rochelle Hospital. State troopers said Mrs. Bemis, who was driving, attempted to make a left turn in the path of the oncoming truck. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harold Eshbaugh, Oregon; Mr. Bemis' two sisters, Mrs. G. R. Millard, Rockford and Mrs. James Hay, Oregon; Mrs. Bemis' brother Ray Chapman, Pekin; and her sister, Mrs. Willard Armour, Oregon; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
