YOUNGSTOWN – A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the No Greater Love Christian Center for Benjamin Lundy Jr., 56, who entered into eternal rest Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Pembroke Rehabilitation.
Mr. Lundy was born Dec. 1, 1953, a son of Benjamin Lundy Sr. and Rose M. Loney-Lundy.
Mr. Lundy was a former steel worker.
He was a very outgoing person as well as an avid chess player. If you ever wanted to find Benny, all you had to do was go down to the bus station and he would be there waiting for you to play chess with him.
He also played football at South High School and was a karate expert and was also the nicest man you could ever meet. He had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Eugene (Dawn) Lundy of Newport News, Va., Wiley T. Lundy of Columbus and Vincent P. Lundy of Youngstown; one sister, Elvirida Hugley of Youngstown; aunt Mercy Dea Thomas; and a host of nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
A special acknowledgment given to Phillis Carlock of Columbus, whom he loved and called his daughter.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; niece Faith Hugley; and two nephews, Drake Hugley and Rashaun Davis.
Arrangements are being handled by the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home Inc.
